Thought power vs. thin power

Diet myth #12 'Thin' is a more important than 'thought'

Joy-filled body Any idea what stress does to your biochemistry and your health? This is what the diet sleuth in me investigates in detail in The Joy-Filled Body (this is fascinating!)

The power of our thoughts is enormous. Ongoing stress

(click here to see how the body also reads a lack of sleep as stress) puts your sympathetic nervous system on constant alert, secreting stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.

Stress hormones that are known to impact on blood pressure, sugar levels, triglycerides, heart health and other important health indicators.

Interestingly enough it's these same health indicators that we are constantly told are caused by weight itself.

So let's assume that two people have exactly the same body shape and size but one looks at hersel in the mirror and thinks: "You're fat and disgusting" and the other person thinks: "Thank you body of mine for all you do for me." How does that impact on their health?

thought power of good and bad thoughts

Molecules of Emotion and thought power

If you who haven't watched 'What the bleep do we know' or read Dr. Candace Pert's books I'd highly recommend them. They show us exactly how our perceptions set off a thought process which results in our emotions. Our emotions then trigger our neural pathways sending biochemical messages flooding through our bodies and changing them at a cellular level.

Perceptions... lead to... power of thought ...leads to...emotions...leads to ... molecules of emotions = health enhancement or health erosion.

thought power and hormones

You trigger thought power every time you:

• catch yourself in a shop window or mirror and think self-hating stressful thoughts, your body is affected bio-chemically
• put on or try on clothes and criticize yourself for how you look, your molecules of emotion are being flooded with negative neuropeptides

The work of Dr. Bruce Lipton on the power of thought

• stress about everything passing your lips, your molecules of emotion cascade through your system, affecting not only your digestion but how your entire body, including your immune system operates

In particular, in The Joy-Filled Body, I point to research that shows that having healthy thoughts is a really great way to boost your immune system. Did you know that when you have angry or hostile thoughts (like those many of us have constantly about our bodies) you:

• decrease the white blood cells that help your body fight infection, • you inhibit natural killer cell activity (that can kill tumour cells) and • you reduce your salivary IgA which are the disease-fighting antibodies found in our saliva.

• feel hopelss and despairing and tell yourself

you're the weak failure when yet another diet fails a negative chemical fiesta is going on in your body

Each thought triggers an emotion which in turn sets off a bio-chemical reaction in our body.

As Dr. Bruce Lipton a 40 year veteran cell biologist explains in his CD series, The Wisdom on our Cells, it's these chemical messengers that give the body instructions, putting it into either: growth (health) or survival (stress) mode.

Thin people who live with a harsh body critic are producing heath-eroding stress hormones. Fat people who believe they are beautiful are producing health-enhancing endorphins.

We can be healthy at every size so long as we have happy thoughts and healthy lifestyles. We can be unhealthy at every size too

thought power, health at every size

It's hardly surprising then that many obesity researchers are now starting to ask if some of the health risks associated with being overweight are possibly not related to the weight per se, but rather to the chronic stress of living in a body that is stigmatized, discriminated against and not accepted by yourself and society.

Yeaaah! Finally....something makes sense!

Our ongoing thoughts are literally busy building or breaking down our body. Thought by thought our body is being formed! Thought power is powerful. If you want to change your body - change your thoughts.

When you change your thoughts not only does it affect your internal biochemistry but an active healthy lifestyle becomes easy instead of difficult.

There's a good reason that thought power is so powerful - it has a lot to do with quantum energy, the law of attraction and vibrational frequency. You can click here to read more about that.
