So you think you need Diet Motivation?

Diet myth #4: All you need is diet motivation

Now, this is a wonderful myth that feeds the weight loss industry coffers. The only part you're responsible for in the repeated failure of diets is being suckered into believing that this next diet book or weight loss program to hit the shelves is going to be 'the' one!

diet motivation I know this goes against everything you've ever been told but it's the truth. The Mind over Fatter program will not only tell you why but will also show you how stopping dieting is best way to develop a healthy mindset and a happy body.

The fact that diets fail us is all the fault of the weight loss industry. Anything that has as spectacular-a-success record (a mere 2-5% success rate in the long term) should be banned.

Let's face it, if any of supposed 'cure' had such an incredible failure rate - surely it would have been ditched long ago.

What do you suppose would happen if a cholestrol tablet initially worked fabulously but then failed for up to 98% of people over the longer term?

What would happen if they not only failed, but actually meant patients cholestrol situation worsened over time? Do you suppose doctors would still be prescribing these pills? And if they didn't really do what they advertised to in the long term (even if they had the most fabulous results initially), who would we be blaming - the pill or the patient? Duh!

So why are you being blamed for diet products that don't work?

Would you cross this river?

I mean would you cross a river if you watched people trying to cross it long enough to realize that even though it kept looking as if they'd reached the other side, they were never able to rest and stay there.

Instead every time they made it ashore a mysterious backwash pulled them back into the river. They'd struggle on again but over the longer period of time 95-98% gave up exhausted and feeling hopeless failures because even though it looked as if it was easy to cross the river, only 2-5% of all people ever got to stay permanently on the other side?

Would you gamble on those odds?

You get the blame

This is how diets 'work'. But best of all the weight loss industry turns around and blames you for its failure. The nonsense message you get is that you're the weak-willed failure because you just didn't have enough diet motivation.

What hogwash! How can you stay on any diet that is unsustainable from the get go? And if you haven't figured this out yet ...they all are.

Diets are designed to fail - which they do most spectacularly. The more they fail, and the more we accept the blame for their failure, the more diets we try and the more money the diet industry rakes in.

diet motivation Don't try to tell me that when I drink only slimming shakes for 5 months, or stick to an very low calorie diet where I eat less than 800 calories a day for 9 months I'm lacking in diet motivation. What kind of ridiculous thinking is that?

No-one can, or should want or have, to live like that forever!

And if you can't follow a plan for life then it's the plan that is unsustainable, not you or your motivation that is defective.

You may have too MUCH diet motivation

Here's the real problem: the average dieter has way too much diet willpower.

• This means you've stuck to ridiculous diets far too long. All your repeated dieting attempts and resultant weight cycling has changed your body composition , slowed your metabolism and made you fatter.

• Research on weight regain also shows that most of your regain is fat (it's difficult to regain the muscle and water weight loss). And any health benefits you gained when you lost weight were reversed completely - back to their initial levels after only 25% of your weight was regained! Yes really! So much for the health benefits dieting.

• In addition, repeated failed dieting is depressing, it lowers your self-esteem and as myth # 12 (on thought-power) on your thoughts will show you - that is more dangerous for our health than anything else.
