Here's a "solution" to wt gain
by: Anonymous

Hi All. I appreciate the frustration about gaining weight around menopause. I'm 45 years old & have been searching for a weigh-loss answer for a year. I'm not overweight, but I'm gaining & I don't like it at all. What I found recently is that muscle-building has worked for me. I lost 2 kilos in 3 weeks by lifting weights--that's while gaining muscle too. I'm not talking about little pink dumbells here; what I've done is follow a plan in a book by Rachel Cosgrove called The Female Body Breakthrough. It was published this month (December, 2009). The concept is not only to lift weights in order to build muscle (because muscle burns fat very rapidly), but also to do whole-body workouts using core strength. NO cardio workouts. I walked, ran, pedaled, and did all sorts of machines at the gym for years. I stopped it all a month ago & just started lifting weights - which is aerobic if it's actually buidling muscle. Anyway, I just wanted to offer a suggestion. I hope it continues to work for me & that it will work for you too. The author's website is www.fitchick.com. Good luck!

WEIGHT GAIN
by: MEL

HEY GIRLS.
THRILLED To FIND THIS PAGE > I AM DEALING W/ THIS EXACT PROBLEM now. I am 55 just retired . I go to the gym never less that 4 days per week, sometimes 5. ( i was going when i worked) working out harder than ever b/f &&& gaining weight.. in 1 week i gained 6 punds.. now excuse me but i thought the more exercise & calories burned the weight was suppose to come off... this weigh isnt muscle b/c you cant gain 6 pounds of muscle in a week, I am past menopause i was surgically induced many years ago..I do have hot flashes mood swings, etc.I cant understand i have a healthy diet..this so stresses me I have hired a personal trainer 2 mornings a week to work w/ me she doesnt understand it... I would not complain about the weight gain IF my clothes were not fitting so tight... I am not the kind of person that can have a good attitude about it... so Audry i feel your pain... it is not fun being a WOMAN.. I could only hope it goes away but something tells me this is not going anywhere... hurrah

The Green Eating Guide

I am a university-bound teenager from the United States. Two years ago I was diagnosed with anorexia, a battle that eventually found me in the hospital.Dieting has robbed me of too much time. I found this website by chance. I've spent a lot of time browsing through articles and reading stories. It has changed my attitude and made me want to be MY ideal weight, not someone else's. Thank you to all the contributors and readers of Mind over Fatter. I deeply appreciate everything you do.(abridged by Cari)

It's easy in our society today to feel that our value is determined by the number on the scale. I am encouraged to change my mind so I can love myself for who I am not how much I weigh. Thank you so much for your website. It is such an inspiration to me!
